Greg O'Neal
As a product designer, my inspiration tends to naturally come from my attraction
to the things that I covet the most: found one of kinds, historic objects and iconic
ethnic art. My most favorite treasures which have stood my own personal test of
time and travels are either simply opulent, uniquely hand crafted, or impactful
even though created from an organic palette and/or material.
The designs that I
have created for AF Lighting are all intentionally designed to evoke a since of
familiarity with either an era, culture or object. Though the basis of the inspiration
comes from random items like vintage pharmacy bottles (Darwin); antique Japanese
vessels (Symbol); classic intaglios (Athena); 1920's world globe (Gravity) and traditional
Asian textile motifs (Empire), each piece takes history and morphs it with a modernistic
edge. I chose to embellish this collection with bold metallic details, distinctive
finials and crystal pediments so that each lamp itself is unique, opulent and impactful
in any space, just like all of the things that I treasure the most.
Deborah Benz
The designs by Deborah Benz were inspired with belief of beauty of simplicity.
With a true appreciation of nature and a passion for blending modern concepts with
historical treasures, Benz’s products are at home in any lifestyle.
Benz's inspiration for her 2011 Horizon's designs was to explore a simpler time that was lighthearted and fun.
The new designs really stay true to her personal style. Each item embodies elements found in nature; like watercolor
shades portraying the symmetry of earth and sky and the softness of sand and air to the whimsy of bases wrapped with twigs
and covered in floating field flowers. Her goal was to create something that evokes a natural happiness...and maybe even
a euphoric feeling that leaves you wanting more.
