AFLighting Inc. is pleased to announce that Catherine Smoak, one of the four designers that contribute to the Horizon Series, has been selected as a finalist for the 2010 Pinnacle Awards with an exclusive design for AFLighting.
“The aerial view of America's farmlands as seen from an airplane window provides a unique interpretation in the Aerial lamp, which has been selected as a finalist for this prestigious award. Catherine’s use of mixed metallic finishes celebrates the textures, colors & symmetry create the beauty of this lamp. We’re pleased but not surprised that this unique lighting design has been selected as a finalist for this award, ” according to Paul Spano of AFLighting.
“As with most of Catherine’s lighting designs,” Spano continues, “you’ll find a bit of whimsy, a bit of caprice. She has a keen eye for style, shape, texture and pattern. And it’s easy to see the influences of her global travels through such unexpected design elements as stamps from around the world, ancient chess pieces and even, as in Aerial, the patchwork of a farm landscape.”
Through her company, Jigsaw Solutions, Catherine designs furnishings and decorative accessories, creates award-winning showrooms and retail store designs, sources goods from vendors around the globe, and provides color consulting.
She has worked with Nautica, Howard Miller Total Home, Lackawanna Leather, Interlude Home, Leather Miracles, American Signature/Value City Stores, Shadow Mountain, Ekornes, and many others.
